On Saturday, October 6th 2007, representatives of the glbt-groups of the French Communist Party (PCF), the Italian Party of the Communist Refoundation (PRC), the Portuguese Left Block (BE) and THE LEFT (DIE LINKE) met in Berlin an agreed on the following issues:
In October 2007 members of 4 parties (PCF, Bloco de Esquerda, Rifondazione comunista and DIE LINKE) gathered in Berlin and finally gave birth to the Group of Fight against LGBT discrimination network of the EL. Europa sicher leben ('Living Europe safely') was the motto chosen by the German Federal Government for its programme of work in the realm of justice and home-affairs policy when it took over the presidency of the EU Council on 1 January 2007. The brochure of the same name published by the Federal Ministry of the Interior takes just 16 pages to justify the greatest restructuring of cooperation in the fields of justice and home affairs in the European Union since the Treaties of Maastricht (1992), Amsterdam (1999) and Nice (2000).
