With great vehemence, patriarchy is leading its static warfare along the trenches of gender norms. The consequences are dramatic: there is an ever growing divergence between men’s and women’s incomes, poverty among women is increasing as is the destruction of the environment, while scenarios of violence are pervading both the international and the personal relationships – with all this now to be topped by the economic crisis. Critique of patriarchy and critique of capitalism belong together.
From 17 to 18 January the feminist network of the European Left (EL fem), in cooperation with the feminist network LISA of Die Linke, organised a peace seminar titled "Women as Workers for Peace, Menders of Peace, and Preservers of Peace".
On April 5th and 6th the Communist Party of Spain and the European Left organised a conference in Barcelona, focusing on equality politics, quotas and democracy, gender violence and precariousness in the EU context.
